What Is Supercritical Fluid CO2 Extraction?

Supercritical Fluid Extraction Process for Kosmea Rose Hip OilAn important reason why Kosmea Rose Hip Oil is richer in vitamins, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants is a result of the supercritical fluid CO2 extraction process.

This process highly pressurizes CO2 (carbon dioxide) to a critical point where it is no longer a gas or liquid. Now in this unusual laboratory state, CO2  can effuse through solids like a gas and dissolve materials like a liquid. In our case, the solute materials are the rose hips.

After spending a short period of time in the high-pressure container, the rose hip/CO2 solution passes through a separator (filter) and is released in a low-pressure tank, where the CO2 immediately reverts back to gas and evaporates from the solution leaving only pure rose hip oil behind.

Supercritical extraction is a more expensive process than traditional seed pressing, but it allows for the entire rose hip, including the skin and pulp where many valuable nutritional components are held, to be processed into pure oil. As a result, Kosmea Rose Hip Oil is far richer in vitamins, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants - all so very important for your skin health!
